Terms and Conditions
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Last updated: October 2026
1. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms and Conditions apply to bookings, consultations, tattoo services and use of the Straight Lines Tattoo website.
Straight Lines Tattoo is operated by Straight Lines Tattoo Limited.
By making a booking or paying a consultation fee or tattoo deposit, you agree to these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms removes any rights you have under UK consumer law.
Our studio address is:
Straight Lines Tattoo
Unit 7/8, Forest Business Centre
92A Forest Road
Loughton
Essex
IG10 1EQ
United Kingdom
Email: info@straightlinestattoo.com
2. AGE
You must be aged 18 or over to be tattooed.
We may ask for valid photo ID before carrying out a tattoo.
We will not tattoo anyone under 18.
Permission from a parent or guardian does not change this rule.
If we ask for ID and you cannot provide suitable proof of age, we may refuse the appointment.
3. ENQUIRIES AND BOOKINGS
Sending us an enquiry does not create a booking.
A tattoo appointment is only confirmed once we have accepted the booking and any required deposit has been paid.
Bookings are subject to artist availability.
Your booking may include details such as:
• Artist.
• Appointment date.
• Tattoo idea.
• Size.
• Placement.
• Session type.
• Price or day rate.
You are responsible for checking your booking details and telling us as soon as possible if anything is wrong.
4. CONSULTATIONS
A consultation may be required before a tattoo is booked.
The consultation fee is £50.
The £50 consultation fee is non-refundable as our normal policy, except where a refund is required by law.
If you need to change your consultation date, you must tell us before the appointment.
A consultation appointment can be moved a maximum of 3 times.
After 3 changes, we may require a new £50 consultation payment before another consultation is booked.
If you do not attend your consultation and give us no notice at all, the £50 consultation payment is lost.
A new £50 payment will then be required if you want to book another consultation.
Paying for a consultation does not guarantee that we or a particular artist will accept your tattoo project.
We may refuse a project where we reasonably believe the design, size, placement, style, health risk or other part of the request is not suitable.
5. TATTOO DEPOSITS
A deposit may be required to secure your artist and appointment.
The amount will be made clear before you book.
Unless we tell you otherwise, the deposit will be taken off the amount due for your tattoo.
Our normal policy is that tattoo deposits are not refundable for cancellations made by the customer.
However, if you give us at least 7 calendar days’ notice before your appointment, your deposit can be moved to another appointment or kept as credit with Straight Lines Tattoo.
A deposit can be moved a maximum of 3 times.
After the third change, we are not required to move the deposit again and a new deposit may be required for a new booking.
If you cancel or try to move your appointment with less than 7 calendar days’ notice, your deposit is lost.
If you do not attend your appointment, your deposit is lost.
Nothing in this section removes any refund right that UK law gives you.
We will not keep any payment where the law requires us to return it.
6. THE 7 DAY CANCELLATION RULE
If you want to cancel or move a tattoo appointment without losing your deposit, you must contact us at least 7 calendar days before the appointment.
If you give at least 7 days’ notice:
• You will not receive a cash refund as our normal policy.
• Your deposit can remain as credit.
• You can move it to another appointment.
• You can move a booking a maximum of 3 times.
If you give less than 7 days’ notice:
• The deposit is lost.
• A new deposit will normally be required for another booking.
If you do not attend:
• The deposit is lost.
• A new deposit will be required for another booking.
This policy is subject to any rights that cannot legally be excluded.
7. LATE ARRIVAL
Please arrive on time for your appointment.
If you arrive late, we may need to reduce the available tattoo time.
If you arrive so late that the artist cannot reasonably carry out the booked session, we may treat this as a missed appointment.
Where this happens because of your late arrival, your deposit may be lost and a new deposit may be required.
We will deal with genuine exceptional circumstances reasonably.
8. IF WE NEED TO MOVE OR CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT
Tattoo artists can become ill, face travel problems or be affected by emergencies or other events outside our control.
This is especially relevant where an artist is travelling to the UK for limited guest dates.
If we need to move your appointment, we will normally offer another suitable date with the same artist.
We will not replace your chosen artist with another artist without your agreement.
If we cannot provide the agreed service within a reasonable time, any refund or other remedy required by UK law will be provided.
Nothing in these Terms allows us to keep money where the law requires us to refund it.
9. TRAVEL, HOTELS AND OTHER COSTS
Many customers travel to Straight Lines Tattoo from other parts of the UK and from overseas.
You are responsible for your own:
• Flights.
• Hotels.
• Trains.
• Taxis.
• Fuel.
• Parking.
• Car hire.
• Other travel or accommodation costs.
You book these arrangements at your own risk.
Artists may become ill, flights may be cancelled, travel may be delayed and appointments may sometimes need to move.
We strongly recommend using flexible or refundable travel and accommodation bookings.
Straight Lines Tattoo is not responsible for travel, hotel or other outside costs that you choose to book if an appointment has to be changed or cancelled, except where the law says that liability cannot be excluded.
10. VISITING ARTISTS
We work with artists from the UK and around the world.
Some artists are only at Straight Lines Tattoo for limited dates.
Their availability may depend on flights, visas, illness, travel and other matters outside our reasonable control.
If a visiting artist cannot attend on the planned date, we will try to arrange another date.
We cannot guarantee when a visiting artist will next be available.
The customer remains responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
11. PRICES
Tattoo prices depend on factors including:
• Artist.
• Size.
• Placement.
• Detail.
• Design.
• Style.
• Time required.
• Number of sessions.
We will tell you the price, day rate or basis on which the price is calculated before the work goes ahead.
A price estimate is not a fixed price unless we clearly tell you that it is fixed.
Large or complex tattoos may take more time or more sessions than first expected.
If you change the tattoo, size, placement, design or amount of work required, the price may also change.
Where there is a material change to the expected price, we will discuss it with you before carrying out the extra work.
We will not simply change an agreed price without a proper reason.
12. PAYMENT
Any remaining balance is due as agreed with us, normally on the day of the tattoo session.
We accept the payment methods made available by Straight Lines Tattoo.
Card payments are handled by a third party card payment provider.
Straight Lines Tattoo does not receive or store your full card details.
We may refuse to make further bookings where money properly due to us remains unpaid.
13. DESIGNS
Tattooing is an artistic service.
Reference images are used to understand your idea, style and direction.
Providing a reference image does not mean that the artist will make an exact copy.
A design may need to be changed to make it work properly as a tattoo.
Changes may be needed because of:
• Size.
• Placement.
• Body shape.
• Skin.
• Detail.
• Tattoo technique.
• The artist’s style.
You will normally have the opportunity to review the design, layout or stencil before tattooing starts.
You must raise any concern before approving the design and allowing tattooing to begin.
Once you approve the design and tattooing starts, some changes will no longer be possible.
14. DESIGN APPROVAL
It is your responsibility to check the tattoo design before work starts.
This includes checking, where relevant:
• Names.
• Dates.
• Numbers.
• Spelling.
• Symbols.
• Direction.
• Placement.
• Size.
• General layout.
If you approve a design containing information that you supplied incorrectly, we are not responsible for that error unless it was caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
Please check everything carefully before tattooing starts.
15. LARGE AND MULTI SESSION TATTOOS
Large tattoos may require several sessions.
The number of sessions given before work starts is an estimate unless we clearly agree otherwise.
The time needed can be affected by:
• The amount of detail.
• Tattoo size.
• Placement.
• Skin.
• Healing.
• Changes to the design.
• How the session progresses.
• Other factors that cannot always be known in advance.
An extra session does not automatically mean that anything has gone wrong.
Any additional session will be charged on the basis agreed with you.
16. ARTISTIC RESULTS
We will carry out tattoo services with reasonable care and skill.
Tattooing is performed by hand on living skin.
No two people, tattoos or healed results are exactly the same.
The final result can be affected by:
• Skin type.
• Skin tone.
• Scarring.
• Existing tattoos.
• Placement.
• Healing.
• Aftercare.
• Sun exposure.
• Lifestyle.
• Natural ageing.
• Health factors.
Photos of tattoos are examples of previous work.
They are not a guarantee that another tattoo will heal or look exactly the same.
Personal dislike of an artistic choice that you approved does not by itself mean that the service was carried out incorrectly.
Nothing in these Terms affects your rights where tattoo services were not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
17. HEALTH INFORMATION
You must tell us about any health condition, medication, allergy, skin condition or other issue that may reasonably affect your tattoo or healing.
You must answer health and consent questions honestly.
If you are unsure whether tattooing is safe for you, you should seek suitable medical advice before your appointment.
We may refuse or stop a tattoo where we reasonably believe it would be unsafe to continue.
We are not responsible for problems to the extent that they are caused by important health information that you failed to tell us after we reasonably asked for it.
This does not remove responsibility for our own negligence.
18. ALCOHOL AND DRUGS
You must not attend your tattoo appointment under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.
We may refuse to tattoo you if we reasonably believe that:
• You are intoxicated.
• You cannot give proper consent.
• Tattooing you would be unsafe.
Where the appointment cannot go ahead because of your condition, the deposit may be lost.
19. RIGHT TO REFUSE OR STOP A TATTOO
We may refuse to start or continue tattooing where there is a genuine safety, legal or professional reason.
This may include:
• Being under 18.
• No suitable ID where ID has been requested.
• Intoxication.
• Unsafe skin.
• Infection.
• Open wounds.
• A health concern.
• Inability to give informed consent.
• Threatening or abusive behaviour.
• A request we reasonably believe is unsafe or unsuitable.
Where the reason is caused by something within your control, your deposit may be lost.
20. AFTERCARE
We will provide or make available tattoo aftercare advice.
Once you leave the studio, you are responsible for following that advice and taking reasonable care of your tattoo.
Healing varies from person to person.
We are not responsible for a problem to the extent that it is caused by:
• Failure to follow aftercare instructions.
• Picking or scratching.
• Poor hygiene.
• Swimming contrary to aftercare advice.
• Excess sun exposure.
• Damage to the tattoo.
• Products used against our advice.
• Undisclosed health information.
• Another cause outside our reasonable control.
If you believe you have an infection, serious reaction or other medical problem, you should seek suitable medical advice.
Nothing in this section excludes responsibility for a problem caused by our negligence or failure to use reasonable care and skill.
21. ALLERGIC OR SKIN REACTIONS
Tattooing involves products that come into contact with or are placed into the skin.
Individual reactions can occur and cannot always be predicted.
You must tell us about known allergies or previous reactions before tattooing.
We do not guarantee that you will never experience a reaction.
We are not responsible for a reaction simply because it occurred where reasonable care and skill were used.
This does not exclude responsibility where a reaction or injury was caused by our negligence or breach of legal duty.
22. TOUCH UPS
A touch up is not automatically included unless this has been agreed with you.
Any touch up arrangements, time limits or charges will be explained separately where they apply.
Where further work is required because the original service was not carried out with reasonable care and skill, your legal rights are not affected.
23. CUSTOMER PROVIDED IMAGES AND ARTWORK
If you give us a photograph, drawing, logo, design or other material, you confirm that you are entitled to provide it to us for the purpose requested.
We may refuse to copy material where we reasonably believe that doing so would infringe someone else’s rights or would not be suitable for tattooing.
Reference material may be changed or used only as inspiration.
24. COPYRIGHT
Copyright in original tattoo artwork remains with the artist or other copyright owner unless copyright has been transferred in writing.
Paying for a tattoo does not automatically transfer copyright in the original artwork.
You may photograph and share your own tattoo for normal personal use.
You must not use original artist or studio artwork for merchandise, products, advertising or other commercial use without permission from the copyright owner.
25. PHOTOGRAPHS
We may ask to photograph completed tattoo work.
Where a photograph identifies you or contains personal information, it will be handled in line with our Privacy Policy and UK data protection law.
Where consent is required for public use, we will ask for it.
You do not have to agree to marketing use of identifiable photographs simply to receive your tattoo service.
26. CUSTOMER BEHAVIOUR
Customers must behave reasonably while at Straight Lines Tattoo.
We may refuse or stop a service and ask someone to leave if they behave in a way that is:
• Threatening.
• Abusive.
• Violent.
• Discriminatory.
• Dangerous.
• Seriously disruptive.
Where a service cannot continue because of the customer’s behaviour, we may retain the deposit or payment to the extent allowed by law.
27. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits responsibility that UK law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
We do not exclude responsibility for:
• Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
• Fraud or fraudulent statements.
• Tattoo services not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
• Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
We are not responsible for loss caused by:
• Your breach of these Terms.
• Information you failed to give us.
• Failure to follow reasonable instructions.
• Poor aftercare.
• Events outside our reasonable control.
This section applies only to the extent allowed by law.
28. YOUR CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services supplied to consumers must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Where UK law gives you a right to a refund, repeat performance, price reduction or another remedy, these Terms do not remove that right.
29. ONLINE AND TELEPHONE BOOKINGS
Some bookings may be made online, by email or by telephone.
Depending on the type of contract and the circumstances, UK law may give you cancellation rights for a contract made at a distance or away from our studio.
Nothing in these Terms removes any statutory cancellation right that applies to your booking.
Where you ask us to start consultation, design, planning or another service during a statutory cancellation period, we may ask for your express agreement to begin that work.
Where the law allows it, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for work already carried out before you cancel.
Where a statutory cancellation right does not apply, our normal consultation, deposit and 7 day cancellation rules apply.
30. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control.
These may include:
• Artist illness.
• Flight cancellation.
• Travel disruption.
• Visa problems.
• Severe weather.
• Power failure.
• Fire.
• Flood.
• Government restrictions.
• Serious technical problems.
• Emergencies.
We will take reasonable steps to reduce the effect of the problem.
If the tattoo service ultimately cannot be provided, any rights you have under UK law remain unchanged.
31. WEBSITE INFORMATION
We try to keep information on our website accurate and current.
Artist dates, availability, prices and other information may change.
Information shown on the website does not by itself create a confirmed booking.
We do not guarantee that the website will always be available without technical problems.
We may update, suspend or change parts of the website where reasonably necessary.
32. WEBSITE COPYRIGHT
Unless stated otherwise, website content belongs to Straight Lines Tattoo, the relevant artist or another rights owner.
This may include:
• Text.
• Photographs.
• Tattoo images.
• Graphics.
• Logos.
• Branding.
• Designs.
You may use the website for normal personal use.
You must not copy, sell, republish or commercially use our content without permission from the relevant rights owner, except where the law allows it.
33. WEBSITE USE
You must not knowingly use our website:
• For unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
• To damage or disrupt the website.
• To introduce malware or harmful code.
• To gain unauthorised access.
• To collect information unlawfully.
• To send spam through our systems.
34. THIRD PARTY WEBSITES AND SERVICES
Our website may contain links to websites operated by other businesses.
We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or terms.
Their own terms and privacy rules apply when you use them.
35. PRIVACY
How we collect and use personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Cookie and website tracking information is explained through our cookie controls and privacy information.
36. COMPLAINTS
If you believe there is a problem with a tattoo service, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
This gives us a chance to understand the issue and respond.
We may ask for photographs or other reasonable information where needed to assess the problem.
Contact:
info@straightlinestattoo.com
Nothing in this complaints process limits your legal rights.
37. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms for future bookings and future use of our website.
Updating the Terms on our website does not allow us to unfairly change an existing confirmed booking.
The Terms that apply to an existing booking will normally be those in force when the booking was made, together with any later change agreed between you and us or required by law.
38. IF PART OF THESE TERMS CANNOT BE ENFORCED
If a court or other competent authority decides that one part of these Terms cannot legally be enforced, the rest of the Terms will continue to apply.
39. NOT ENFORCING A RIGHT IMMEDIATELY
If we do not enforce a right immediately, this does not mean that we have given up that right.
40. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms and contracts with Straight Lines Tattoo Limited are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in this section removes any right a consumer may have to bring a claim in another court where consumer law gives them that right.
